Winter hangs on in the Arrowhead of Minnesota. On May 20th, there were still snowbanks along the Gunflint Trail. I saw it! It is good that people embrace Winter in Gunflint territory. The forest depends upon it. This painting depicts early April as the rivers and streams begin to open. The days become longer, and spring arrives.
