ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS: 24X36 Sold
Deep in the heart of canoe country you will find West Pike Lake. Carved by glaciers, the lake is framed by severe cliffs to the south and gradual sloping hills to the north. This image depicts the view looking west at the end of the day, a perfect time to stop the paddle and set up camp. I am often surprised by how fast the daylight can change when in Minnesota’s border country. One minute can feel sun soaked and the next it is as if the hills and trees have stood taller and the light fades quickly. It is a magical time to see the pines highlighted against the shadows. In a matter of minutes, the vast landscape can take on an entirely new look.
