The Brule River originates at Vista Lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and flows 40 miles southeast before joining Lake Superior. Its waters can be calm and inviting for a paddle or trout fishing. This painting illustrates another mood the Brule can have depending on the weather and the time of year. Spring melt can bring dangerous and turbulent waters filled with ice and deadfall. No matter what mood the Brule is in, there is always beauty to be found.
